The inspiration for a pineapple party came from a book picked up at a secondhand sale. The Golden Circle Tropical Recipe Book is a fresh-from-the-60s treasure with recipe after recipe of meals centered around pineapple. Spaghetti with pineapple bolognaise sauce. Pineapple pie. Roast chicken with pineapple. Pineapple and lamb curry. Pineapple salads.
After flicking excitedly through the pages, I realised I needed to throw a pineapple party, and to put pineapple in ALL OF THE THINGS.
First step, a session on the Gocco printer to make some invitations.
It was actually my first time using a Gocco (a portable screen printing system) and it was a really fun process. If you want to learn more about how to print Gocco, Pip from Meet Me At Mikes has compiled a handy collection of links here.
This was the end result… Dot-to-dot party invites!
I also made a pineapple felt badge, pineapple bunting, noodles boxes with pineapple faces and used hollowed out pineapples as candle holders. My lovely friend Kit even brought a pineapple pinata!
Our menu ended up using only 1 recipe from the Golden Circle cookbook, as there was a lot of gelatin and liver going on that I didn’t want to subject my friends to. We started off the night with some pine-lime vodkas using fresh pineapple juice. (NOTE: If you ever have a pineapple party of your own, a pineapple corer will be your best friend.) Kat, our resident cake queen, made the pineapple cheesecake. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
Thanks friends for making this party so TROPI-COOL!
